
Uganda Re Held a Two-Day Strategic Planning Retreat Under the Theme: Own the Plan, Own the Future
Uganda Re held a two-day strategic planning retreat at Green Yard Hotel, Entebbe, focused on shaping the Company’s Vision and Mission for the 2026–2030 period while also strengthening teamwork through engaging activities.
The retreat opened with strategy presentations from facilitators Robert Anthony Katuntu and Collins Ninsima of J. Samuel Richards & Associates, followed by interactive brainstorming sessions to develop Uganda Re’s new vision and mission.

During the Day 1 dinner, guest speaker Paul Kavuma, CEO of Jubilee Allianz General Insurance, delivered insightful remarks on the ingredients for long-term success. He emphasized consistency in strategy execution as a foundation for alignment and cohesion within Uganda Re. Paul further encouraged the team to cultivate accountability across departments, build confidence, and embrace candid conversations that drive growth. He concluded by reminding participants that Uganda Re’s success is not only a company achievement but also a win for Ugandan insurers and international partners who rely on its services.
Day 2 began with an early morning aerobic workout, energizing participants for the day’s strategy discussions. The team worked on refining the 2026–2030 strategic priorities, which will be presented to the Board for review. Key focus areas include strengthening Uganda Re’s reinsurance services, leveraging technology, advancing sustainability, enhancing operational efficiency, and innovating alongside direct insurers to create products that support livelihoods and protect people’s assets.


Catherine Nakimbugwe, Risk & Compliance Officer, guided conversations on the risk management approaches necessary to achieve the strategy’s ambitions. She highlighted priorities such as profitability, market expansion, customer satisfaction, staff capacity building, governance, and leadership excellence.
In his closing remarks, CEO Ronald Musoke applauded the Uganda Re team for their active participation and the facilitators for guiding the process effectively. He reaffirmed the Company’s commitment to the new strategic direction and encouraged staff to fully embrace the theme “Own the Plan, Own the Future.” He also thanked the logistics team for their excellent organization of a productive and engaging retreat, before inviting participants to enjoy the team-building activities.
