The 7th IBAU Conference 2025: Innovation, Leadership and Strategic Growth Take Center Stage
The 7th Insurance Brokers Association of Uganda (IBAU) Conference kickstarted with Uganda Re’s delegation actively participating and fully engaged in the transformative conversations shaping the future of insurance.
In his opening remarks, IBAU Board Chairman, Paul Muhame, called on brokers to embrace technology and innovation as key enablers of relevance and competitiveness in a rapidly evolving insurance landscape. He commended the regulator, IRA Uganda, for fostering an enabling environment for innovation and growth, encouraging insurers, brokers and reinsurers alike to adopt tech-driven solutions for broader impact. He also spotlighted IBAU’s strategic partnership with the Insurance Training College (ITC), a commitment to strengthening member capacity and enhancing public service delivery.
The conference’s Guest of Honor, IRA Uganda CEO Alhaji Kaddunabi Ibrahim Lubega, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that digital transformation is not optional, it’s essential. He urged the industry to adopt digital tools that elevate client experiences, from streamlined claims processing to more transparent and personalized service. His message was clear;today’s clients are informed, connected and expect more.
On day two our team participated in a celebratory Gala Dinner, proudly sponsored by ICEA LION Uganda. Technical Officers Derrick Nsimbi and Sandra Akumu, alongside Finance Officer Godfrey Bukenya, received the Brass Sponsorship Award on behalf of Uganda Re.
Our CEO, Ronald Musoke proudly accepted the OESAI Brass Sponsorship Award on behalf of the Organisation of Eastern and Southern Africa Insurers. He also had the privilege of presenting Bronze Light Awards to Liberty Uganda, Uganda Insurers Association, MUA Uganda and Jubilee Insurance Uganda.
The final day of the conference opened with an inspiring session on Leadership as the Ultimate Game Changer for Thriving Organizations. Miriam Magala, Company Secretary and Head of Legal & Regulatory Affairs at ZEP-RE, urged leaders to lead with intention, cultivating environments where teams can thrive, innovate and grow with confidence.
This set the stage for a forward-thinking panel discussion on Reimagining Insurance in a Whole New World, moderated by Mwaka Emmanuel, CEO of ICEA LION Life Insurance. The session brought together influential voices including:

– Mrs. Francesca Nakaggwa Kakooza (FCG), Director Legal, IRA Uganda

Together, they explored emerging trends, customer expectations and the redefinition of insurance in the digital age, leaving delegates inspired and better prepared for the road ahead.
