CEO Ronald Musoke Participates in the 18th RCTG Carnet Meeting in Bujumbura, Burundi

Our CEO, Ronald Musoke, participated in the 18th meeting of the Council of Regional Customs Transit Guarantee (RCTG Carnet), which was held in Bujumbura, Burundi. This meeting marked the conclusion of his highly impactful tenure as the Chairman of the Council of Bureau for the year 2024, a period during which Ronald’s leadership was instrumental in steering the Council’s initiatives and enhancing the region’s customs and transit systems.
The meeting in Bujumbura was a momentous occasion for Uganda Re and the nation as a whole. Uganda Re – National Surety of Uganda successfully concluded its term as Chair of the Council of Bureau for 2024. This achievement was a testament to Uganda’s strong leadership in the area of regional customs and trade, particularly in fostering collaboration between East African nations and strengthening the overall framework for cross-border trade.
Uganda’s chairmanship of the Council in 2024 has been marked by significant contributions towards improving the RCTG Carnet system, a vital mechanism for facilitating seamless customs procedures and ensuring the security of goods in transit across borders. Ronald’s leadership during this term has played a crucial role in ensuring that the system remained efficient, transparent, and in line with the region’s evolving trade needs.
As the outgoing Chairman, Ronald Musoke has been instrumental in guiding the Council through numerous challenges and opportunities in the customs transit sector. His tenure in 2024 was characterized by strategic leadership and a commitment to advancing regional cooperation. Under his guidance, the Council of Bureau made strides in enhancing the operational efficiency of the RCTG Carnet, ultimately improving trade flow within the region and ensuring the smooth movement of goods across borders.
During the meeting, Ronald Musoke stepped down as Chairman, and his dedication and contributions were widely acknowledged by fellow members.
Following the conclusion of his term as Chairman, Ronald Musoke was elected as the Vice Chairman of the Council for the coming year with Burundi assuming the Chairmanship for 2025.
