Honored Participation at the WIN@5 Convention: Navigating the Leadership Landscape

We were privileged to participate in the WIN@5 convention, organized by Women In Insurance (WIN) – Uganda, at Sheraton Kampala under the insightful theme, “Navigating the Leadership Landscape.”
The event brought together key figures from the insurance industry and beyond, highlighting the importance of women’s leadership and inclusivity in the sector.
Guest of Honour, Hon. Nakadama Rukia, lauded the insurance sector for its dedication to promoting women’s inclusivity. She emphasized the need for greater collaboration between insurers through IRA Uganda and the Government of Uganda to drive the growth and development of the insurance industry. Her speech underscored the importance of ensuring that women play an integral role in shaping the future of the sector.
IRA Uganda CEO, Alhaj Kaddunabbi Ibrahim Lubega, provided a compelling statistic, revealing that women currently represent 60% of the total insurance portfolio in Uganda. He further encouraged more women to join the Women In Insurance (WIN) initiative and assured the audience that IRA Uganda would continue to champion gender equality, aiming to maintain 50% women’s representation across the insurance industry. His support for this cause serves as a testament to IRA’s commitment to fostering gender parity.
Keynote Speaker, Hope Murera, CEO of ZEP-RE (PTA Reinsurance Company), delivered a thought-provoking speech on the importance of recruiting more women into leadership roles within organizations. She advocated for the implementation of structured career development programs that empower women to grow within their careers. She also took the time to acknowledge the impressive women leaders in attendance and offered an inspiring call to action: “Build it before you need it.” Her message was a powerful reminder of the proactive steps women need to take in creating their own leadership pathways.
Our team had a remarkable opportunity to network with fellow industry professionals, gaining valuable insights on fostering women’s leadership in insurance. The event also marked the launch of two major initiatives:
WIN Annual CSR on Maternal Health-a new corporate social responsibility initiative dedicated to improving maternal health & Women In Insurance Leadership Masterclass- a program designed to empower women professionals in the insurance industry, offering guidance on leadership development and career progression.
